As Vice Chair of the Board, I had the honor of participating in the NE School of Acupuncture Presidential Inauguration last weekend.
(that's me, 4th person in from the right standing next to Susan Gorman, the 6th President of NESA).
It has been an invaluable learning experience to collaborate on the transition to a new president. Researching, hiring and working with consultants, talking with and listening to the concerns of the faculty, student and alumni community in town meetings and one-on-ones, has yielded a wonderful outcome – Sue Gorman – a compassionate leader. And to add some icing on the cake, we designed the theme, invitations and programs for this wonderful event, as well as the school's website!
As brand and marketing consultants, we collaborate with educational institutions and their communities all the time. And we are asked to put ourselves in their shoes as we make recommendations on how to best tell their stories. It's our job to park our personal biases at the door as we look for authentic messages and develop creative to engage others.
Having had the chance to be a part of this experience from the inside and the outside has given me a deeper understanding of the process. An understanding which may not be attainable in any other way. It was an incredible reminder that there is not one "right way" to the path of success but listening to a community is vital in getting there.
